Happy New Year!

No my internal clock / calendar hasn't slipped a tooth in its gears. It really is a new year. If you would like to read the complete explanation and learn more, follow THIS LINK.

Digital copy protection and your right to use what you have paid for

Have you heard the news stories lately about Sony / BGM selling music CD's and DVD movies with what amounts to spy ware on them that installs its self on your computer if you play them and leaves your system open to attack by hackers? Well it has caused quite an uproar in the electronic community and lost of people have made their displeasure known to both companies.

Today I received this tip from a mailing list that I am on and wanted to pass it along to the readers of the blog. Tell Sony to take their copy protection and STICK IT!

Sony BMG Music's controversial copy-protection scheme can be defeated with a small piece of tape, a research firm said Monday in a demonstration of the futility of digital rights management (DRM).

According to Gartner analysts Martin Reynolds and Mike McGuire, Sony's XCP technology is stymied by sticking a fingernail-size piece of opaque tape on the outer edge of the CD.

That, the pair said in a brief posted online, renders "session 2 -- which contains the self-loading DRM software unreadable. The PC then treats the CD as an ordinary single-session music CD, and the commonly used CD 'rip' programs continue to work as usual."

Election night

All the votes are not in yet but from the last update I saw on one of the local television stations it looks like congratulations are in order for Bob Fescemeyer in the mayors race. Well done Bob!

Don't forget to VOTE!

Well Tuesday is election day once again and this will be our first chance to make our feelings known to those in government about the so called “pay raise” passed in recent months. We have them worried enough that they took time to rescind the shameful pay grab even though their seats are not on the ballot this time around. You will however get the chance to deny some judges who were part of the complete and total disrespect of the states taxpayers a return to the bench.

I only hope that anger that I have been hearing on talk radio in letters to the editor manifests itself at the polling booth day after tomorrow. Trust me if you and I don't stand up now and let it be know that enough is enough and we are not going to just sit by and let officials from any branch of the government get away with this abuse all will be lost.

They all counted on the fact that there would be wailing and moaning over the pay raise when it was enacted. But they knew that just like the other times in the past that it would be short lived and by the time the next election cycle came up it would be forgotten entirely.

Tuesday is your chance to show them that this time they have gone too far placing the last straw on the camels back as it were. Please vote! And encourage your friends and relatives to also go to the polls and vote. This election cycle and the next will be the “line in the sand” that will determine if there is going to be change in Harrisburg or not.
